I'm Lora Marie, your autoimmune sister from another mister originally hailing from the Midwest, but I've been happily planted in Denver, Colorado, for quite a while now. It's just me and my trusty lab-pittie mix furchild, Dallas. He's not exactly a wiener dog, but I call him that because once, in a starbucks drive through (pre no coffee days), a barista said "Oh your dog is so cute. Is he a weiner dog?" I'm sure you can about imagine the look on my face. Needless to say, it stuck and I genuinely enjoy telling the story so I don't see it going anywhere any time soon.
No tiny humans running around in my life, yet (unless you count Dallas and he's not exactly tiny). Well that's a lie. I haven't actually birthed any crotch fruit but I am a nanny and have been for the last 20+ years so I have plenty of tiny humans around me. I have always wanted kids as I am a caretaker at heart and I'm not great at math but I think you sort of need another component to the equation, for that. Speaking of - I've yet to take that walk down the aisle, but hey, I'm a seasoned pro at being a bridesmaid - 22 times (insert 27 dresses joke). My friends and family clearly mean the world to me and I would do almost* anything for them.
When I'm not busy with weddings, you can usually find me exploring in the great outdoors. Hiking, camping, and kayaking are my jam (so is Kygo and pretty much anything 80's or 90's), and I'm always up for trying new adventures, as long as my body cooperates. Which isn't always. I'm sure you most definitely understand.
I've got a knack for whipping up some delicious meals in the kitchen. Cooking is extremely meditative for me and y'all know we are supposed to sneak that meditation in wherever we can. Multitasking at its finest, folks. I absolutely love the challenge of taking "regular" recipes and turning them into autoimmune protocol (AIP) compliant ones.
There's more to me than just outdoor escapades and culinary experiments. I love unleashing my creative side, whether it's through creating content, writing, or just daydreaming about the endless possibilities life has to offer.
Speaking of the mind, I'm absolutely fascinated by the intricate workings of the brain, pondering why we do the things we do (I still do some stupid shit and love to understand why) and what makes us tick. I'm an empath, feeling things deeply, and am proud of my emotional intelligence (EQ).
Last but not least, I love making people laugh. In the autoimmune community, I've created a space for giving myself and my fellow followers grace and a world without judgement. After all, we are in different places in our journey and healing isn't linear. Life in general is hard and heavy (that's what she said). Bringing humor to the world lightens the load. I think no matter what path you are on, autoimmune disease or not, its important to find humor in it. Someone's got to bring some light to this darkness. So in 2019 (when I started Exploring Autoimmune) I thought - why not me? So, here I am.
